Natural health centre celebrates three years at rural Harborough site

The owners of Market Harborough based natural health centre Archway House are celebrating their third anniversary at their Lubenham Hill location, having moved from the town centre in 2010 to accommodate expansion plans.

Owners Alec and Stella Welton have completely refurbished the site of the former Welland Lodge public house since moving there three years ago.  The bar and lounge areas have been converted into six consulting rooms, a gym, a dedicated studio space for classes and Sheeda’s Day Spa.  The former playbarn has almost doubled in size to create four state of the art offices, totalling around 4,500ft2, all of which are fully let.

Moving the practice took 8 weeks but completing the rest of the development took a further 2 years,” comments Alec. “It was a massive project, using 36 new windows, 17 skylights, 50 doors, 11 sets of bifold patio doors and 1200 litres of paint!”

The couple have also restored some of the eight acre site’s outside area which includes its own lake, wood and an 86 space car park.

Since its relocation, Archway House has become the largest centre for complementary therapies in the area, attracting people from Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. The centre offers services such as acupuncture, chiropractic, aromatherapy, psychotherapy, homeopathy, hypnotherapy, reflexology and sports massage.

Alec adds “There have been times over the past three years when we wondered what we had really taken on. However, looking back we are delighted with how the site has developed. It’s a beautiful location, and the additional space has allowed the centre to grow organically. We feel that it has become a very valuable resource for the local area.”

The Archway House practice was originally set up by Alec and Stella in 1997 and was located near the town centre on Coventry Road in Market Harborough. The expansion has enabled the practice to significantly extend the services they are able to offer. “We believe in helping people to achieve the healthiest life they can – and at the current rate we could double in size again over the next three years,” Alec concludes.
