Current players Scott Hamilton and Julian Salvi were joined by retired World Cup winner Ben Kay and Tigers’ head coach Matt O’Connor. They spent the evening posing for pictures with fans and signing photographs. “We were all happy to lend a hand and help raise some money for a great cause,” says Matt O’Connor. “We all had a good night and the reaction from both the fans and the crowd was very positive.”

“The boys were great sports and braved the crowds because I know how much the work that Rainbows does means to them. We are delighted with the total money raised.” comments Jill Griffiths, Partner at Andrew Granger & Co.  “It was a great night, everyone got into the Christmas spirit and we were able to help a really worthy cause.”

Despite fears that economic worries would detract shoppers, the event was a great success and the town centre was flooded with visitors. Various stalls selling gifts, food and drinks filled the town square alongside fairground rides and Santa’s sleigh. One of the highlights of the night was the return of Santa’s reindeer Dasher and Dancer, sponsored by Andrew Granger & Co.

“The late night shopping event is always a big hit, not just with Harborough residents but with people from all over the county. Regardless of money worries, families were out enjoying themselves indulging in some Christmas cheer,” adds Jill.
