Kibworth Golf Club announce new signing

Kibworth Golf Club has pulled off a “major coup” after securing a new head pro amid major new plans.

One of Leicestershire’s most renowned teaching professionals Michael Bent is joining the Weir Road club from Kilworth Springs Golf Club where he has been for ten years, bringing with him the established Michael Bent Golf Academy.

It comes as the club announces plans to expand the practice area in the New Year, including a new computerised teaching studio. A new franchisee for the bar and restaurant has also been appointed.

The golfer will also be re-launching the club shop with plans for a wider range of stock.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be joining such a progressive and forward-thinking club, which is looking to expand the reach of the game across the area.

“The new computerised teaching studio for elite and developing golfers will be available to both members and the public. It will enable us to take coaching to a new level and I am looking forward to harnesses its potential.”

Mike is a class AA PGA head pro with 15 years’ experience and will be joined by Kym Larratt, an assistant trainee PGA pro and member of the Ladies European Tour, who will be his assistant.

Michael Bent Golf Academy includes established ladies’ group classes, ‘get into golf’ beginner classes and a renowned junior academy.

Mike will also be re-launching the club’s first golf and lifestyle shop with the shop seeing a complete refit, and being stocked with leading golf and lifestyle brands including clothing and sports equipment. It will be open to the public not just members.

Situated within the village of Kibworth Beauchamp, Kibworth Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 71, 6,363-yard course.

Club captain Andy Cole said: “This move is a major coup for Kibworth and represents a new and bold direction for the club as we strive for constant improvements. As well as the appointment of Mike with his teaching academy, we have a new franchisee for the bar and restaurant and new plans for the practice area.

“We are always looking to make golf more accessible for everyone across the local area as we have a great club with fantastic facilities.”

Wendy Quilter, ladies captain, added: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Mike to the club, it will be great to have some someone who is so focused on ladies’ golf who will work proactively to help build the ladies’ section and promote the ladies’ game across the county.”
