Harborough Table Tennis Club celebrates a vintage year

Junior members of the club along with Club Coach Barry Thompson

In the Kettering & District League Tournament, the club was just as successful,  winning all 3 boys singles titles (under 14,16 and 18)  as well as being runners up in the same categories. The club also walked away with the junior doubles titles (under 15 and under 18) and the girls under 18 title.

Junior organiser Vaughan Allington was delighted with the club’s performance. “We are very proud of the achievements of our members and some terrific team performances.  I’m certain that our new location has played a part in this, enabling players to practice in competition conditions in a larger venue.”

The club has members aged between 11 and 70 years of age. The 2010 / 2011 season saw some significant changes within the club as they moved to Church Langton Community Hall in order to create a better playing environment.  Following a £5 000 Grassroots grant, new equipment was purchased and improved lighting installed. The club also successfully completed the SportEngland Clubmark accreditation process to become only the second table tennis club in Leicestershire to achieve this.

Club nights are run every week. Anyone interested can just turn up at a club night (Tuesdays until early September, then Fridays until April) or ring Vaughan on 01858 433 487 for more information. Sessions run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Langton Community Hall, Stonton Road, Church Langton. The first session is free.
