Food producers and retailers in the Harborough area are invited to have their say at a meeting, dubbed ‘The Big Decision’, about the future of local food in the town.

The Local Food and Drink Forum Open Meeting, organised by Sustainable Harborough, will take place on Wednesday 21st January from 5.30pm ‘til 7.00pm in the café area of Harborough Market Hall.

Retailers and producers will be asked for help on how to raise the profile of Local Food and Drink in and around Market Harborough. The meeting will give retailers and producers the opportunity to have their say in deciding on the direction of the next project that the Local Food and Drink Forum and Sustainable Harborough undertake. Attendees will also find out how they can become involved in projects promoting Market Harborough as a place to experience local produce.

Jo Sharman, Project Officer at Sustainable Harborough explains further: “Following the success of our previous projects, such as the Local Food Map and EdibLE16, we want to know what should happen next in Harborough’s local food community.
“If you are a local producer or retailer, we need you to let us know what should happen next – whether that be a local food brand, local label, local map or local campaign.”

The event will be Sustainable Harborough’s first of 2015, following a series of projects aimed at strengthening the local food sector in and around Market Harborough in 2014, with the aim of linking producers and retailers and keeping money in the local economy.
