A Harborough company which specialises in the energy industry has been so successful that it has doubled in size and outgrown its premises in the town just six years after setting up.

Utility Bidder (www.utilitybiddder.co.uk) is a consultancy that works with businesses to negotiate cheaper energy and utility bills as well as merchant services and business finances. Set up in 2009 by local man James Longley, the company will be relocating from its home at the Compass Point Business Park to Corby as of 1st September to accommodate its rapid expansion.

The company currently employs 50 people, but the relocation to the Pearson Academy in Corby will enable them to take on 50 more people in a variety of roles within a range of departments including sales, lead generation, finance and admin.

“I’m from Harborough and so it has been great to set up and grow a thriving business within the town,” comments James. “However, the success of the company has been such that we have been forced to look for larger premises. Whilst we would like to have stayed in the town, we were unable to find a site suitable for our needs in Harborough and so will be moving a few miles down the road to Corby. We are sad to leave Harborough but are very much looking forward to getting involved with the Corby community.”

Utility Bidder is already sponsoring Corby Town FC and getting involved in Electric Corby. Working with Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, they company also recently held a recruitment evening to explain the employment opportunities the company could offer. The evening was so successful and the interview process has just got underway. The expansion will create around an additional 50 jobs.

Utility Bidder works with around 50,000 businesses of all sizes and from a range of industries across the UK. As an independent consultancy, they aim to save customers up to 50% on their energy bills by negotiating more favourable contracts and/or switching suppliers.
