Harborough businesses challenged to take part in corporate relay race

Local businesses are being asked to enter in teams of 4 people – with each entrant taking on 3.25 miles of the half marathon course in a bid to raise money for charity. Entrants don’t need to work for the company, but must be associated with it in some way, so regular customers or family members are welcome to enter.

All proceeds made from entries to the Corporate Relay Challenge will go to local charity The Squires Effect, although teams can be sponsored to raise money for charities of their choosing.

The event, organised by Race Harborough as part of the Carnival of Running, is sponsored by The Ideal Marketing Company, a Market Harborough based marketing and PR agency.

Alastair Campbell, owner of The Ideal Marketing Company and a keen runner comments: “It’s really exciting to be involved in Harborough’s largest ever running event, and see all kinds of people supporting the event.”

“We’d like to open the challenge to every business in Harborough to don their running shoes and indulge in some friendly rivalry whilst raising money for an important local charity.”

The Carnival of Running will take place on the same day as the Harborough Carnival, with runners starting off at 12.00pm.

Brian Corcoran of Race Harborough comments: “The race will start shortly before the carnival floats come through the town centre, so the hope is that crowds will have gathered to see the parade already and will cheer on the runners.”

“Entrants needn’t worry about not having taken part in a road running race before – we want lots of people from Harborough to get out there and give it a try.”

Businesses in the Harborough District and beyond are being challenged to participate in The Ideal Marketing Company Corporate Relay Challenge, taking place as part of the Carnival of Running on Saturday June 13th 2015.

Details of how to enter can be found at www.raceharborough.co.uk

Race Harborough was formed in 2014 to encourage people in the Harborough area to take part in a range of local outdoor activities. Founders Amy Handford and Brian Corcoran have a full list of events planned for 2015 as well as the Carnival of Running. These include the first Harborough Festival of Cycling scheduled later this month, plus the second Harborough Triathlon and a second Santa Run.
